Dropout is reviving its live-action scripted comedy format with a new series called 'MP3,' premiering on November 4. This marks the streaming service's first original scripted live-action production since its rebranding from CollegeHumor. The show is a three-episode spoof of music video countdowns, promising absurd content and comedic performances.
Each episode of 'MP3' will introduce new, original music videos performed by various comedians. The series will be hosted by Jeremy Culhane, Skye Townsend, and Aparna Nancherla. Viewers can also expect interviews with unique guests and comedic interactions with producer Thomas Cartel, played by Paul F. Tompkins. Zach Reino and Jess McKenna are writing and composing the music for the series.
The new series will roll out new episodes every two weeks, with the season finale scheduled for December 2. The songs featured in 'MP3' will be made available on music streaming platforms following their respective episode premieres. This return to scripted live-action follows Dropout's successful run of unscripted content and animated projects over the past seven years.
