Capcom's "Dark Arisen" expansion for Dragon's Dogma 2 is poised to address significant criticisms from the game's initial 2024 release. The most impactful change is the return of six skill slots per vocation, a substantial upgrade from the base game's four, allowing for unprecedented combat flexibility, particularly for classes like the Warfarer and Warrior. This change, coupled with greater enemy variety and challenging new encounters, fundamentally overhauls the gameplay loop.

New content mirrors the original "Dark Arisen" expansion, featuring cursed gear found through exploration and combat, requiring appraisal and strategic equipping. Performance on the Switch 2 has been noted as surprisingly robust, with graphics remaining sharp despite some compromises in lighting and shadow effects compared to the PlayStation 5 version. While the PS5 demo targeted 60fps, the Switch 2 hovered around 30fps but remained stable, feeling more polished than the base game's launch.
