Dragons' Den Star Slams BBC Editing 'Spin'
8 Feb
Summary
- Businesswoman claims BBC unfairly edited her Dragons' Den pitch.
- She endured a three-hour filming session for the show.
- Her sustainable skincare brand, UpCircle, secured investment.

A former participant on Dragons' Den has voiced strong criticism against the BBC, alleging manipulative editing tactics and an extended filming ordeal.
Anna Brightman, who pitched her sustainable skincare brand UpCircle with her brother William in 2018, revealed they were made to wait for three hours while filming. She believes the BBC "spun the narrative" by selectively using footage and omitting significant parts of their pitch.
The brother-sister duo's business, UpCircle, focuses on transforming discarded ingredients like coffee grounds into eco-friendly skincare. Their innovative approach and existing retail presence, including stockists like Whole Foods and Waitrose across eight European countries, impressed the Dragons.
Despite initial concerns raised about product packaging, Anna and William successfully secured an investment from Touker Suleyman and Tej Lalvani, who collectively took a 30% share. Anna's entrepreneurial success was further recognized when she was named in Forbes' 30 under 30 list in 2021.
