Dolly Parton Laid to Rest in Nashville

Dolly Parton's closest family members convened at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville on Friday morning for a private burial service. Approximately a dozen relatives, led by her nephew and head of security, Bryan Seaver, were present. The legendary country artist, who passed away on August 25th at age 80 after a battle with cancer, was interred beside her husband of 58 years, Carl Dean.

The couple's tomb at the cemetery, which also serves as the final resting place for several notable country musicians, now features a bronze frontispiece depicting a mountain scene from their native Tennessee. Parton's family has requested that fans make donations to her Imagination Library program instead of sending flowers. Tributes from peers and fans have poured in since her passing.
