An ambitious film adaptation of the Chilean cult novel "Dog Legs" is progressing, with international producers joining the project. Spain's Doce Entertainment has boarded Matías Rojas's adaptation, joining partners from Chile, France, Germany, and Colombia. This collaboration aims to finalize the film's financing.
Principal photography is anticipated to take place in Valdivia, Chile, during the latter half of 2027. Renowned Chilean actor Alfredo Castro is confirmed to star in the film. The novel, published in 1965, explores themes of exclusion, abuse, and violence through the story of a young boy born with dog's paws.
This international co-production includes Chile's A Simple Vista, France's Reality Films, and Germany's Klinker Films. Visual effects will be managed by the French company MPC. Director Matías Rojas has a history with the San Sebastian Festival, where he previously premiered films.
Producers aim for "Dog Legs" to be both technically and artistically ambitious while also appealing to a wide audience. The story's enduring relevance, addressing societal prejudice and violence, makes it a compelling subject for contemporary cinema.
