Disney's 2028 Box Office Blockbuster Slate Revealed

Disney is gearing up for a powerhouse year in 2028, with 14 theatrical release dates already set, not including offerings from 20th Century Studios or Searchlight. This ambitious schedule includes highly anticipated Marvel Cinematic Universe films such as an untitled X-Men movie on May 5, Ghost Rider, and Black Panther 3 on December 15.

The studio's strategy also heavily features live-action adaptations of beloved classics, including Tangled on March 31, and sequels to animated hits like Lilo & Stitch 2 on Memorial Day weekend and Incredibles 3 on June 16. Pixar is set to release the original Ghost Market on March 10.

Beyond the MCU and live-action remakes, Disney is continuing its animation output with sequels like Frozen 3 slated for November 24, 2027, and Coco 2 expected in November 2029. The studio aims to reinvigorate franchises by focusing on quality filmmaking and compelling storytelling, as exemplified by the success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

While Star Wars and Avatar updates were minimal, Disney's 2028 lineup indicates a strong focus on established intellectual property and potential blockbuster franchises, aiming to capture a significant share of the global box office.
