18 Jun
Summary
- Disneyland plans to rebuild the New Orleans Square train station.
- A fire in December 2022 destroyed the historic structure.
- The reconstructed station will preserve its 19th-century aesthetic.

Disneyland is set to reconstruct a cherished piece of New Orleans Square, the train station's "radio house," which was lost to a fire over three years ago. A permit has reportedly been granted for this restoration project. The original structure, dating back to a set from the 1948 film "So Dear To My Heart," was engulfed in an after-hours blaze in December 2022.
This fire gutted the small building, which primarily functioned as an employee break room. Although no one was harmed, the charred remnants remained until their demolition in 2025. The upcoming reconstruction will involve a 357-square-foot building equipped with upgraded electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
Park officials have stated that the exterior will meticulously replicate the vintage, 19th-century aesthetic of the original building. A new ADA-compliant pathway will also be constructed over the train tracks, ensuring safe access to the revamped break room and restroom facilities for workers. Disney enthusiasts largely support this initiative as a vital step in preserving the park's historical integrity.
