Disney Nixes Highly Anticipated Ben Solo 'Star Wars' Film

In a recent interview, actor Adam Driver disclosed that Disney had nixed plans for a Ben Solo 'Star Wars' film that was in development. Driver, who portrayed Kylo Ren in the recent trilogy, had been interested in reprising the role and had been in discussions with Lucasfilm since 2021.

The proposed film, titled "The Hunt for Ben Solo," was to be directed by acclaimed filmmaker Steven Soderbergh, with a script written by Scott Z. Burns. Driver described the script as "one of the coolest (expletive) scripts" he had ever been a part of. The group, which included Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy, Cary Beck, and Dave Filoni, pitched the concept to Disney's top executives, Bob Iger and Alan Bergman.

However, the Disney leaders ultimately rejected the project, citing concerns over how Ben Solo's fate was portrayed in the previous film, "The Rise of Skywalker." Driver expressed his disappointment, saying, "We presented the script to Lucasfilm. They loved the idea. They totally understood our angle and why we were doing it. We took it to Bob Iger and Alan Bergman and they said no. They didn't see how Ben Solo was alive. And that was that."
