Disney has entered into a licensing agreement with iHeartMedia to stream six podcasts on its Disney+ and Hulu platforms. The initiative begins with the Jonas Brothers' "Hey Jonas!" podcast, which launched on August 14th, the same day as "Camp Rock 3" premiered on Disney+. The podcast will also feature exclusive content from Disney's D23 event.
Additional iHeartPodcasts joining the Disney streaming services include video editions of "Pod Meets World" on Disney+ and "Desperately Devoted," "Fake Doctors, Real Friends With Zach and Donald," "StraightioLab," and "Thanks Dad With Ego Nwodim" on Hulu. These shows will roll out with weekly episodes in the coming months.
Lauren Tempest, Disney's head of direct-to-consumer content planning, stated that these video podcasts will deepen fan engagement by connecting them with beloved stories and creators. Bob Pittman, iHeartMedia's chairman and CEO, highlighted Disney+ and Hulu as ideal partners to broaden the audience for these iHeartPodcasts.
