Walt Disney Company has named Josh D'Amaro as its next CEO, succeeding Bob Iger. The board of directors made this announcement on February 3. D'Amaro, currently the chairman of Disney Experiences, has a 28-year tenure with the company and will officially take the helm on March 18, coinciding with Disney's annual meeting.
Bob Iger, who returned as CEO in 2022, will transition to a senior advisor role through December 31. His return was aimed at navigating a critical company transition and strengthening leadership. Iger expressed confidence in D'Amaro, highlighting his deep understanding of the Disney brand and audience.
James Gorman, chairman of Disney's board, praised D'Amaro's leadership and innovation. D'Amaro will also join Disney's board of directors upon his formal rise to CEO. Dana Walden has been appointed president and chief creative officer, effective March 18.
