Walt Disney Studios has officially crossed the $4 billion mark at the global box office this year, making it the second studio to achieve this financial milestone after Universal.
The animated sequel "Toy Story 5" leads the pack as the studio's highest-grossing film of the year, amassing over $1.095 billion worldwide. "The Devil Wears Prada 2" also contributed significantly, bringing in nearly $692 million globally and pushing its franchise past $1 billion.
While Lucasfilm's "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu" and the live-action "Moana" offered moderate returns, Disney has more major releases planned. Upcoming films include "The Dog Stars," "Wild Horse Nine," "Hexed," and the highly anticipated "Avengers: Doomsday."
Disney, which has been the top-grossing studio in nine of the last ten years, is preparing to reveal its future film slate beyond 2027 at the D23 fan convention.
