Disney+ has announced a new Korean-language series, 'The Miracles of the Namiya General Store,' based on the bestselling novel by Keigo Higashino. This time-bending fantasy adaptation is slated for a global release on Disney+ in 2027.
The series centers on three young thieves who discover an abandoned general store and begin receiving letters from strangers in the past. The novel, which has sold over 13 million copies worldwide, has been adapted for screen twice before.
Ryu Seung-ryong will headline the new production as the kindly shop owner, Go Min-joong. He will be joined by rising stars Kang You-seok, Park Jung-woo, and Kim Seong-jeong as the trio of thieves. The supporting cast includes notable Korean drama talent like Kim Hye-yoon and Moon Sang-min.
Park Young-ju, known for her recent hit 'Citizen of a Kind,' is directing and writing the adapted scripts. This new series marks another significant step in Disney+'s strategy to compete with Netflix in the K-drama market.
