Discovery: Vampire Weekend Star's New R&B Project

Discovery, a new musical venture by Vampire Weekend keyboardist Rostam Batmanglij and Ra Ra Riot singer Wes Miles, reimagines modern R&B. This project showcases Batmanglij's distinctive production style, featuring warm, rounded tones and a notable emphasis on space and repetition. These sonic qualities echo the aesthetic he cultivates within Vampire Weekend, creating a comparable, engaging listening experience.

The duo's approach to music prioritizes simplicity and draws listeners in with pleasant, often repetitive structures. Their early tracks, like "Orange Shirt" and "Osaka Train Loop," offer a quirky, straightforward take on pop music. The project even features Angel Deradoorian from Dirty Projectors on "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend," adding a distinctive vocal element. Discovery's sound cultivates a unique artistic space, exploring new sonic territories while building on familiar influences.
