The upcoming three-part documentary series, "Love Doesn't Hurt" ("Láska nebolí"), will offer a comprehensive look at domestic violence. Beyond focusing on the suffering, the series intends to explore themes of effort, understanding, and change within abusive dynamics. A significant aspect will be the inclusion of perpetrators, aiming to shed light on their involvement and the potential for rehabilitation.
The project, developed by Barbora Námerová, Tomáš Klein, and Klára Follová, also seeks to break the taboo surrounding male victims of domestic violence. Námerová stated that reaching out to abusers is crucial for a complete understanding and addressal of the issue. The creators emphasized that this approach is not about excusing their actions but about facilitating necessary change.
Animated sequences by Lukáš Fišárek will be utilized to depict difficult personal accounts, especially childhood abuse, without graphically recreating violence. This technique aims to enhance viewer empathy and understanding of the subjects' experiences. The research for the series, which took four months, provided the team with a profound grasp of the complexities of domestic abuse.
