Filmmaker Michael Harte expressed initial reservations about directing a documentary centered on pop icon Kylie Minogue. He recounted his doubts about his own directorial experience when producer John Battsek proposed a meeting with the Australian singer in Los Angeles. Harte recalled thinking it might not be a good idea due to his perceived lack of experience.

Despite his reservations, Harte decided to attend the meeting, which was set to take place at the renowned Chateau Marmont hotel. This celebrated venue is located on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. The encounter proved to be a turning point, as Harte stated it almost instantly changed his mind about the project.
