Director Prem has firmly dismissed suggestions that the recent controversy surrounding the song 'Sarke Chunar' from his film 'KD: The Devil' was a manufactured publicity stunt. The song, featuring Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt, drew criticism for its Hindi lyrics, prompting a formal complaint to the CBFC.
Prem clarified that the film is an emotional narrative, and the song was meant to be a joyful, celebratory track for audiences. He explained that while he penned the original Kannada lyrics, he has a limited understanding of Hindi and thus missed the nuances of the translated lines that caused offense.
The filmmaker revealed that the problematic portions of the Hindi lyrics have now been revised and will be submitted to the Censor Board. He offered an apology to anyone offended, stating that the lyric issue has been exaggerated amidst larger global concerns like wars and economic problems.
