Andrew Troy recently secured the Best Director Award at the L.A. SkinsFest Film Festival for his directorial debut, "Midnight in the Orange Grove." This compelling coming-of-age thriller, co-written with Guinevere Turner, is rooted in a true story. It follows a 17-year-old art student who begins to depict repressed memories through her artwork and therapy, embarking on a profound journey of identity and forgiveness.
The film, which includes a cameo from Cara Jade Myers, stars Isa Yamileth, Jason London, and Cameron Rhodes. "Midnight in the Orange Grove" was screened in Los Angeles and Richmond, Virginia, in honor of Indigenous Peoples Month, a significant recognition as it is the first non-Native themed film to screen at the Pocahontas Reframed Film Festival.
Looking ahead, Troy is collaborating with Academy Award nominee Jim Sheridan on "Standing Bear," a film detailing Chief Standing Bear's pivotal 1879 court case. This upcoming project has already garnered support from the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska and the Ponca Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma.
