The halls of Hillman College are reopening for a new generation, with a sequel to the iconic '90s sitcom *A Different World* officially greenlit for Netflix. Four original cast members—Jasmine Guy, Kadeem Hardison, Cree Summer, and Darryl M. Bell—are confirmed to return as their beloved characters Whitley Gilbert, Dwayne Wayne, Freddie Brooks, and Ron Johnson, respectively.
The upcoming 10-episode series will center on Deborah Wayne, the youngest daughter of Dwayne and Whitley, as she begins her freshman year at her parents' alma mater. Portrayed by Maleah Joi Moon, Deborah will strive to forge her own identity while attending the historically black college and university.
Showrunner Felicia Pride and executive producer Debbie Allen expressed excitement for the sequel, stating it respects the original's history while engaging with relevant contemporary issues.
