Diego Boneta is actively involved in new projects, currently in post-production for the action series 'El Gato' (working title) for Amazon Prime Video. He produced and stars in this series, which is an adaptation of Richard Dominguez's comic book 'El Gato Negro.' Boneta takes on the role of Frank Guerrero, returning to Mexico to discover his father's legacy as a vigilante and becoming entangled in a family power struggle over a business empire.
This venture with Amazon follows Boneta's significant role in 'Luis Miguel: The Series.' He produced and starred in all three seasons of the Netflix and Telemundo biopic about the Mexican superstar. Boneta not only acted but also recorded all the music for the show, contributing to a platinum-selling companion album.
Further solidifying his multifaceted career, Boneta is slated to star as Cuban dictator Fidel Castro in 'Killing Castro,' a project he also produced. The film, set in 1960, depicts Castro's journey to New York for his first UN speech and his interactions with Malcolm X.
His recent producing and acting credits also include Michel Franco's 'Nuevo Orden,' which received the Silver Lion at Venice in 2020, and the HBO Max feature 'Father of the Bride.' He also starred in and produced Paramount+'s romantic comedy 'At Midnight' and released his debut novel, 'The Undoing of Alejandro Velasco,' in spring 2024.
