In May 2022, legendary actress Diane Keaton made her final appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, just two weeks before the show's finale. Sadly, Keaton passed away in October at the age of 79.
Following the news of Keaton's death, DeGeneres took to Instagram to pay tribute to the Oscar-winning actress. DeGeneres shared a montage of her favorite moments from Keaton's 20 appearances on the show, which began in December 2003. The two shared many memorable exchanges over the years, including discussions about Keaton's signature hat, her potential career as a "salesperson at Woolworth's," and her excitement over sharing iced red wine with DeGeneres.
One particularly hilarious moment came in 2013 when Keaton dissolved into laughter while discussing her movie The Big Wedding and some of the more intimate scenes, including a "ridiculous" nine-hour orgasm. "I loved kissing him," Keaton quipped of her co-star Robert De Niro. "I enjoy the kissing of the men."
DeGeneres, who also co-starred with Keaton in the 2016 film Finding Dory, called the actress "an icon" and "a hero" of hers growing up. "To be able to connect with her on my show over the years was so much fun," DeGeneres wrote. "She was one of my all-time favorite guests. Always a surprise. always fun. She was one of a kind."
