Dhurandhar Crosses ₹1,200 Cr, Sparks Jingoism Debate

Ranveer Singh's recent film, Dhurandhar, has achieved a remarkable box office milestone, grossing over Rs 1,200 crore in its initial ten days of release. This commercial success has positioned the film as a dominant force in the current cinematic landscape.

In light of Dhurandhar's popularity, actress Dia Mirza shared her perspectives in a recent interview. She contrasted the film's reception with that of her own project, IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack. Mirza explained that her series encountered criticism for its nuanced character portrayals, specifically for humanizing individuals perceived as terrorists.

Mirza posited that this criticism is linked to an increasing societal trend of celebrating aggressive patriotism, termed jingoism. She articulated that her project, which she stands by for its balanced approach, did not align with this nationalistic fervor. Mirza also emphasized the importance of artists taking vocal stances, even amidst potential backlash and intimidation, to foster meaningful dialogue and reflect diverse perspectives.
