Ranveer Singh's action film, Dhurandhar, has achieved remarkable box office success, with its two parts accumulating over Rs 3,100 crore worldwide. The producer, Jyoti Deshpande, revealed that lead actor Ranveer Singh and director Aditya Dhar accepted lower initial salaries in exchange for a share of the film's profits. This financial arrangement successfully distributed both risk and reward among key creative partners.

Dhurandhar was originally conceived and budgeted as a single film. However, following a promising first shooting schedule, the decision was made to expand the narrative into a two-part movie. This expansion, while increasing the budget significantly, proved to be a strategic move. The film's script, set entirely in Pakistan and exploring the intricate concept of the deep state, captivated Deshpande due to its unique premise and departure from conventional storytelling.

The decision to split Dhurandhar into two parts was driven by the quality of the footage and the storytelling's potential. The chapterized format was particularly appealing for its immersive nature, aligning with audience preferences shaped by OTT viewing. The emotional core and patriotic undertones of the film, disguised within a surface-level gangster narrative, ultimately convinced Deshpande to back the project. The film follows an undercover operative infiltrating Pakistan's criminal networks, with the first part released on December 5, last year, and the second on March 19, this year.
