Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar: Big Hype, Slow Start?
4 Dec
Summary
- Dhurandhar's advance bookings are surprisingly weak despite high expectations.
- Film faces competition from Tere Ishk Mein, impacting show count.
- Opening day collection is predicted to be 15-18 crore net, a drop from initial estimates.

Ranveer Singh's highly anticipated film Dhurandhar is set to release tomorrow, December 5th, with expectations of a moderate opening at the Indian box office. Despite strong promotional assets, including a viral song and intriguing teasers, the film's advance booking trends have been unexpectedly subdued. This has led to revised opening day predictions.
The spy action thriller, featuring a star-studded cast, has built considerable hype since its first look release four months ago. However, concerns linger about audience fatigue with the India-Pakistan conflict backdrop and the spy genre itself. These factors, coupled with strong competition from Dhanush and Kriti Sanon's Tere Ishk Mein, are impacting Dhurandhar's potential performance and screen allocation.
Initially projected for a robust opening, Dhurandhar is now estimated to collect between 15-18 crore net on its first day. While this is expected to be Ranveer Singh's biggest post-COVID opener, surpassing '83', the figure is significantly lower than initial optimistic forecasts, reflecting the challenges it faces in capturing a broad audience from the outset.
