The action spy duology Dhurandhar, released on December 5, 2025, with its sequel Dhurandhar The Revenge, has been met with significant audience acclaim. Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has publicly praised the duology's box office success.
Reacting to the films' performance, Varma commented that the industry might look to new releases like 'Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown Ups' to potentially challenge Dhurandhar The Revenge's box office records. He humorously suggested that filmmakers would pray for 'Toxic' to break Dhurandhar's streak.
'Toxic' was initially slated for a March 19 release, setting up a potential clash with Dhurandhar The Revenge. However, its release was postponed due to Middle East tensions, allowing Dhurandhar The Revenge to continue its run, particularly in markets unaffected by the conflict.
Amidst discussions about Dhurandhar being labeled propaganda, Varma defended the film, stating that cinematic perspectives are shaped by individual research and understanding. He emphasized that differing interpretations are natural in cinema.
Dhurandhar: The Revenge continues to perform exceptionally well at the box office. Following a historic Monday, the film maintained its momentum on Tuesday with only a minor drop, collecting approximately Rs. 54 crore. Its six-day total box office collection has approached Rs. 557 crore.
