Music Festival Faces Funds Crisis Despite Rich Legacy

The vibrant city of Dharwad is preparing to host the 'Sangeetotsava-2025', a three-day musical extravaganza honoring the memory of Sitar Ratna Rahimath Khan on his 71st death anniversary. The festival, organized by the Sitar Ratna Samiti, promises a rich lineup of vocal, flute, and shehnai recitals, featuring renowned artists from various cities.

This cherished event continues the legacy of the Bharateeya Sangeeta Vidyalaya, founded in 1932, which has been instrumental in promoting classical music and nurturing young talent for decades. The vidyalaya has organized a memorial music festival annually since 1955, eagerly anticipated by music aficionados across the country.

However, the tradition is now overshadowed by a severe financial crunch, with organizers appealing to the public for crucial support. The cessation of government funding eight years ago has placed the future of these beloved musical gatherings in jeopardy, highlighting the urgent need for community involvement to preserve this cultural heritage.
