The Swar Sangam festival in Dhanbad recently concluded, showcasing the depth of Indian classical music and dance traditions. The two-day event, organized by Swar Sangam, Dhanbad, featured young artists from Kashi (Banaras) who demonstrated remarkable devotion to their art.
The highlight performance was by guest vocalist Tejaswini Digambar Vernekar, who presented the intricate Raag Miyan ki Todi. She was expertly accompanied on the tabla by Anand Kumar Mishra, a renowned percussionist from the Banaras gharana, whose mastery of Teentaal was widely praised. Kaveri Mukherjee provided graceful harmonium accompaniment.
Following the vocal performance, a captivating Kathak jugalbandi was presented by young talents Amrit Mishra and Vasundhara Mishra. Their expressive storytelling, combined with intricate footwork and precise rhythmic execution, offered a glimpse into the promising future of Indian classical dance.
