A vital costume collection amassed over decades by a Devon theatre school is now under threat due to a significant roof leak. The Willow Tree Dance and Theatre Arts School, located in Tiverton, has put out an urgent appeal for a new storage space.
The building currently housing the school's extensive wardrobe, featuring handmade outfits, wigs, and accessories, has developed a leak. This poses a severe risk to the historical and practical value of the costumes, which are essential for the school's productions.
With 274 pupils ranging from toddlers to adults, the school stages at least three shows each year. Head seamstress and volunteer Lucy Bull expressed a strong desire to preserve these costumes for future generations of students, emphasizing their importance in making theatre accessible.
