The "Home Sweet Home" exhibition at MAD Brussels presents a collection of 83 distinct birdhouse designs created by international designers. Curator Connie Hüsser was inspired by childhood stories and a desire to provide safe, welcoming homes for birds, viewing them as symbols of freedom.
Each designer approached the brief with a unique perspective, resulting in diverse creations like Kwangho Lee's woven structure, Bethan Laura Wood's graphic design, and James Shaw's colorful extruded pod. Linde Freya Tangelder's contribution emphasizes creating a secure shelter that remains connected to the environment.
Dieter Van Den Storm, creative director of MAD Brussels, noted the universal enthusiasm for the project, describing birdhouses as miniature pieces of architecture. The "Home Sweet Home" exhibition is open to the public until April 25, with prices for the designer birdhouses ranging from €75 to €5,500.
