Summary
- A duck sculpture trail in Derbyshire has boosted local businesses.
- Over 2,600 app downloads and digital map views recorded.
- The trail, extended until June 1, has brought new customers.

The "Ay Up Me Duck" trail, an initiative featuring large fibreglass sculptures, has proven highly successful across Alfreton, Belper, Heanor, and Ripley in Derbyshire. Originally launched on February 14, the trail was designed to feature eight 1.5m-tall, artist-painted duck sculptures, with smaller ducks also hidden in shop windows. The trail has been extended and will now continue through the half-term break until June 1. This extension comes after an overwhelmingly positive response, with Amber Valley Borough Council reporting over 2,600 app and digital map downloads.
Local business owners have expressed enthusiasm for the trail's impact. They report that it has increased foot traffic, encouraged residents to discover local shops they were previously unaware of, and brought new customers to establishments like Nordicana, Swish Shoes & Fashion, and Mustard. The presence of the colorful ducks has not only boosted business but also contributed to a sense of civic pride and brightened the towns, attracting visitors from outside the borough. The council has confirmed the giant duck sculptures will remain in the Amber Valley after the official trail period concludes.
