On October 21-22, 2025, Dr. Akhter Hussain, the administrative director of the Centre for Craniofacial Anomalies and former dean of Yenepoya Dental College, is showcasing his 'Vedic Series' artworks at the Hotel Ocean Pearl in Mangaluru. The exhibition is a culmination of Dr. Hussain's efforts to seamlessly blend photography, digital technology, and traditional paints, occasionally incorporating three-dimensional objects derived from his dental laboratory.
Speaking about the series, Dr. Hussain explains that Hinduism is a culture and a way of life that involves a vast array of practices and rituals, which include a plethora of various forms and secular beliefs. This is reflected as 'Sanathana Dharma', the eternal faith that rests upon a large body of sacred texts and daily activities. The exhibition aims to transcend boundaries and pave the way for a new artistic movement that celebrates the diverse and rich tapestry of Indian spirituality and culture.
Some of the works on display include Gudi, Ashlesha, Sohum, Madanika, Guru Shishya, Gajanana, and Nruthya, among others. Dr. Hussain hopes that his work will defy categorization and embrace many techniques, perhaps paving the way for a new movement altogether.
