Summary

- Duffy allegedly manipulated a business arrangement for intellectual property.
- Marin claims Duffy sought personal control of Dennis Hopper's legacy.

Marin Hopper, daughter of the late Hollywood icon Dennis Hopper, has filed a lawsuit against his widow, Victoria Duffy. The legal action, lodged in Los Angeles Superior Court, centers on allegations that Duffy improperly interfered with a business arrangement governing the rights to Dennis Hopper's image and intellectual property.
According to court documents, Marin Hopper asserts that Victoria Duffy took steps to undermine contracts and gain greater control over the estate's assets. An organization known as the Hopper Art Trust was established after Dennis Hopper's death in May 2010 to manage his artwork and intellectual property, including photos, paintings, and sculptures.
Marin's attorneys claim that she had an agreement in 2018 to purchase portions of the intellectual property, investing approximately $800,000. The situation escalated when Ellie Page was appointed sole trustee of the Hopper Art Trust in June 2022. Marin alleges that Victoria Duffy influenced Page's appointment and subsequently 'improperly inserted herself into trustee functions,' aiming to seize personal control of the intellectual property for selfish reasons.
The lawsuit seeks damages, with Marin's legal team arguing that Victoria Duffy's actions breached the terms of the contract and trustee agreements. The Hopper Art Trust's website describes Dennis Hopper as a visionary artist across multiple mediums and states its commitment to preserving his artistic career and legacy.
