Wookey Films and Chasseurs Films are collaborating on Guillaume Lonergan's directorial debut, "Denise sans Denis." The dark comedy centers on a 60-year-old woman in Winnipeg who decides to break free from a lifetime of self-sacrifice.
Written by Paul Ruban, the film depicts Denise's attempt to escape her demanding life, where she caters to her husband, daughter, grandkids, and aging father. Her refusal to continue self-sacrifice triggers increasingly chaotic events.
Josée Deschênes stars as Denise, supported by Claude Legault and Gilles Renaud. Principal photography is set to commence in Winnipeg in May, with additional filming in Churchill and Dublin. The production highlights local Manitoba talent and the French community in Manitoba.
