Delacorte Theater Reopens with Lupita Nyong'o in Shakespearean Romp

In the summer of 2025, the Delacorte Theater in Manhattan's Central Park has reopened after undergoing renovations. The theater's first production since the reopening is a staging of one of Shakespeare's most popular comedies, directed by Saheem Ali and starring Lupita Nyong'o as the shipwrecked Viola.

The production has been praised as "a romp, a tonic, an escape from the clamorous world into a fantasy." Nyong'o's performance as Viola, who disguises herself as a young man and accidentally seduces the noblewoman Olivia, played by Sandra Oh, has been particularly well-received. Nyong'o's real-life brother, Junior Nyong'o, portrays Viola's twin brother, adding to the production's appeal.

In addition to the Delacorte Theater's revival, the audio version of Jen Silverman's play "Creditors," based on the work of Swedish playwright August Strindberg, has been released by Audible. The production features a talented cast, including Liev Schreiber, Maggie Siff, and Justice Smith, and offers a fresh take on the classic story of a kind of diabolical emotional triangle.
