Deepika Padukone Stands Firm on 8-Hour Shift Demand as New Mom

In the past few months, Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has been making headlines for her stance on work-life balance. In September 2024, Deepika and her husband Ranveer Singh welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Dua Padukone Singh.

Since then, Deepika has been advocating for an 8-hour work shift, which she says is a common practice for many male superstars in the industry. However, her demand led to her exit from the film 'Spirit' starring Prabhas. Deepika explained that as a new mother, she is simply trying to strike a good work-life balance, which is often not the case for women in the industry.

The actress further revealed that she is not afraid to be the "first person" to make such demands, even if it means facing criticism or "being abused at." Deepika credits her upbringing and "athlete mentality" for helping her cut out the noise and focus on what's important to her.

At the moment, Deepika says motherhood is taking up all her time, and she finds it "gratifying and beautiful." While the industry may not be used to such demands from female stars, Deepika is determined to pave the way for a more balanced work culture, setting an example for other working mothers.
