Blondie's Debbie Harry Endorses Florence Pugh for Biopic Role

In a recent interview, legendary Blondie singer Debbie Harry has shared her dream casting for a potential biopic about her life. The "Heart of Glass" vocalist says she would be "in heaven" if actress Florence Pugh portrayed her on the big screen.

Pugh, who is currently 29 years old, had previously voiced her interest in playing Harry at a 2020 panel discussion. The Oscar-nominated actress noted that she grew up "pretending" to be both Harry and fellow British singer Dusty Springfield. With her shared low vocal range and blonde aesthetic, Pugh does seem like a natural fit to embody the iconic Blondie frontwoman.

This is not the first time Harry has endorsed an actress for the role. Back in 2007, she gave her blessing to Kirsten Dunst for a different Blondie biopic that entered pre-production but ultimately never materialized. Harry described Dunst as "a sweetie" who was "probably capable of a lot of things she hasn't been asked to do yet."

As of October 2025, no official Blondie biopic has been greenlit or entered production. However, with Harry's stamp of approval, it seems Florence Pugh could be a top contender if such a project does come to fruition in the future.
