Universal Music Australia has officially parted ways with singer-songwriter Dean Lewis, confirming he is no longer signed to any Universal Music Group label. This separation follows numerous allegations of misconduct by the artist, which surfaced on TikTok in late 2025. The claims prompted Lewis to issue a heartfelt apology on Instagram in October 2025, expressing regret for any hurt caused.
In his apology, Lewis addressed the public discussions of private conversations and extended his apologies to those he had disappointed, including his family and fans. He promised to implement substantial changes in his conduct and fan engagement. Consequently, he withdrew his nominations for the ARIA and TikTok Awards.
Lewis had been with Universal Music for nearly a decade, signing in April 2016. During his tenure, he achieved significant international success, accumulating 15 billion streams and selling 7 million albums and EPs worldwide. His hits include "Be Alright," which charted internationally, and "How Do I Say Goodbye."
