- Film promises 'Event Horizon' and 'Hellraiser' vibes in a mall.

The Dark Horse comic series "Dead Mall" is set to receive a feature film adaptation, with production company Not the Funeral Home securing the rights. Screenwriter Michael Varrati will pen the script, drawing from Adam Cesare's original story notes.
The narrative centers on five teenagers who break into their local mall for a final visit before its scheduled demolition. Inside the decaying structure, they encounter a vast, ever-changing cosmic horror that has claimed the mall as its domain. This entity twists the consumer space into a labyrinthine nightmare.
Producers describe the project as evoking the terror of "Event Horizon" and "Hellraiser" but set within a mall environment. Not the Funeral Home has a history of producing genre content, including "The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs" and several Shudder originals. Adam Cesare is also known for his "Clown in a Cornfield" book series, which was previously adapted into a film in 2025.
