A script for a potential "Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves" sequel has been written, according to co-writer Jonathan Goldstein. Despite the completion of the script, Goldstein conveyed doubts about the project's future, attributing this to substantial financial considerations. He noted that these films are costly to produce, even though he believes the script would appeal to fans and enjoys the original cast.
The fantasy comedy "Honor Among Thieves," released in March 2023, did not achieve significant box office success. It garnered $205 million worldwide, which was insufficient to cover its $150 million production budget. Since its release, the film's reputation has grown, and the "Dungeons & Dragons" brand continues to attract fans.
Complicating any prospects for a sequel are recent ownership changes affecting the film's production companies. Paramount, a co-producer and distributor, was acquired by Skydance Media in August 2025. Additionally, eOne, previously a subsidiary of Hasbro, which holds the "Dungeons & Dragons" rights, was acquired by Lionsgate in December 2023. A live-action series adaptation also faced cancellation from Paramount+ in May 2024 before reportedly finding a new home at Netflix in February 2025.
