Greg Mottola, who has previously directed episodes of the DC Studios series "Peacemaker," is reportedly being considered as a frontrunner to direct an untitled film focusing on the DC villains Deathstroke and Bane. The concept for a movie pairing Deathstroke and Bane was initiated in September 2024 under the leadership of DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. Matthew Orton, known for his work on Marvel's "Moon Knight," was previously reported to be penning the screenplay.
Bane, who first appeared in comics in January 1993 and was memorably portrayed by Tom Hardy in the 2012 film "The Dark Knight Rises," is a formidable foe known for breaking Batman's back. Deathstroke, created by Marv Wolfman and George Perez, debuted in 1980 and is an enhanced mercenary with a history of battling various DC heroes, particularly the Teen Titans.
Mottola brings a directorial background in comedy films like "Superbad" and "Adventureland," as well as executive producing and directing for the current Peacock series "The Miniature Wife."
