Dax Shepard Turns Down Acting Roles, Sticks to Podcasting

In October 2025, at the Emmys ceremony, actress Lupe told PEOPLE magazine that she would love to have Kristen Bell's "amazing husband" Dax Shepard make an appearance on her Netflix series. Lupe suggested Shepard could even star in a competing podcast show.

Unfortunately for Lupe, Bell, 45, has shut down the idea, revealing that Shepard, 50, is "over acting" and just wants to focus on his popular podcast, Armchair Expert. "He just wants to talk to people, for all time," Bell told Entertainment Tonight. "He's not, like, begging me for jobs."

While Shepard may not be interested in acting again soon, he has been very supportive of his wife's work. Bell recently shared that Shepard watched her steamy on-screen kiss with Adam Brody's wife, Leighton Meester, and was "so excited" for the characters. Shepard had previously joked that his and Bell's real-life chemistry is "not as good" as hers with Brody in the show.

This summer, the couple spent time away from the entertainment industry, staying on a lake in Tennessee with their two daughters. Bell said the getaway was "really healthy" for her family to "burst [their] bubble" and see the world outside of Los Angeles.
