Walliams' Charity Roles End Amid Scandal

David Walliams' career has been marked by a significant downturn, culminating in the loss of his remaining charity patron and ambassador positions. This development follows his earlier dismissal by publisher Harper Collins shortly before Christmas. The publisher's decision was reportedly influenced by repeated claims of inappropriate behavior towards female staff, with allegations including harassment and payouts.

His departure from these charitable roles signifies a stark contrast to his previous dedication, which included swimming the English Channel for charity and extensive involvement with Comic Relief. A source within the charity sector noted that organizations now wish to avoid association with Walliams due to negative publicity, despite his past commitment.

Walliams' decline was also precipitated by his exit from Britain's Got Talent over a decade ago. This followed recordings of him making derogatory and sexually explicit remarks about contestants. His hit sketch show, Little Britain, co-created with Matt Lucas, has also faced retrospective criticism and has been removed from platforms like Netflix and the BBC for its content, which is now viewed as racist, sexist, and homophobic.

These challenges have impacted his literary career as well. After being dropped by Harper Collins, he was also removed from a Waterstone's children's book festival. Public appearances that once drew thousands now attract smaller audiences, indicating a diminished reach.
