Bear sculptures surprise Dartford residents

A free public art trail has transformed Dartford into an exciting destination, showcasing 31 large bear sculptures and more than 50 cub figures. These artistic creations, designed by artists and community groups across Kent, are strategically placed throughout the borough in parks, on streets, and in various public buildings. The trail, which runs until September, is inspired by the beloved children's book 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt'.

The initiative serves to highlight the vital work of ellenor, a palliative care provider operating in Kent. Organizers anticipate a substantial turnout, with projections of over 250,000 visitors, positioning this as one of the borough's largest public art events. Bluewater Shopping Centre, the trail's official partner, features a dedicated community hub offering insights into the project and the stories behind each unique bear sculpture. A select number of these art pieces will also be auctioned to generate additional funding for the charity.
