Daniel LaRusso Returns in Karate Kid: Legends, Now Streaming

In 2025, the Karate Kid franchise has taken a significant step forward with the release of Karate Kid: Legends. The film, which hit theaters on May 30th, aims to tie together more than four decades of history in the beloved series.

While the film features the return of Daniel LaRusso, played by the iconic Ralph Macchio, the main focus is on a new hero, Li Fong, portrayed by Ben Wang. Li's journey is guided by the wise Mr. Han, reprised by Jackie Chan from the 2010 Karate Kid reboot.

The film's shift to the big screen comes after six strong seasons of the popular Cobra Kai series, which helped reignite interest in the franchise. However, Karate Kid: Legends struggled to shine at the box office, earning a worldwide total of $116 million, with only $52.5 million from domestic theaters.

Despite the mixed box office performance, the film has found a strong following among audiences. Holding a 90% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has shown that those who watched it thoroughly enjoyed the story and the action.

Now, just months after its theatrical release, Karate Kid: Legends has made its streaming debut on September 27th, giving it a chance to reach a wider audience and potentially find a second life, much like Cobra Kai did before it.
