Tenzin Choegyal, the younger brother of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, has passed away at his home in Dharamsala. He was 80 years old. Known widely as Ngari Rinpoche, he held a significant spiritual position and was deeply involved in Tibetan affairs.
Born in Lhasa in 1946, Tenzin Choegyal came to India in 1959. He completed his education in India and the US, later working with the Tibetan Children's Village. He married Rinchen Khando Choegyal and took on lay status.
Ngari Rinpoche served extensively in the Dalai Lama's office and the Tibetan department of security. He was also a part of the Special Frontier Force and involved with the Tibetan Youth Congress and Parliament.
The Central Tibetan Administration President, Penpa Tsering, expressed profound sorrow, highlighting Rinpoche's lifelong devotion to Tibet and unwavering support for its people and administration.
