Daddy Yankee Sues Ex-Wife Over Stolen Royalties

Daddy Yankee, real name Ramon Luis Ayala Rodriguez, has initiated a federal lawsuit under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. He alleges that his ex-wife, Mireddys Gonzalez, and former manager, Raphy Pina, conspired to fraudulently divert publishing income from his successful records. This alleged scheme involved falsifying songwriting percentage splits, which allowed Pina to collect royalties he was not entitled to.

The lawsuit specifies that these fraudulent alterations to songwriting credits occurred for over a dozen of Daddy Yankee's hits dating back to 2015. Gonzalez, who managed his business affairs for over two decades, is accused of assisting Pina in executing this plan. This legal action stems from ongoing divorce proceedings, during which a financial audit uncovered the alleged royalty fraud.

Daddy Yankee is seeking to reclaim his complete publishing rights and is demanding at least $3 million in financial damages to compensate for the royalties he claims were stolen. The legal battle highlights a complex financial dispute following the end of his long-term marriage and business partnership.
