Recent film 'Daayra' has prompted widespread speculation regarding its police characters. Viewers are drawing comparisons between the fictional officers and real-life Indian Police Service (IPS) personnel.
Prithviraj Sukumaran's portrayal of DCP Raman Kumar has been likened to former Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar. This comparison gained traction from scenes echoing a 2019 Hyderabad police encounter and a notable remark by Sajjanar. Sukumaran himself acknowledged awareness of the incident during filming.
Attention has also turned to Kareena Kapoor Khan's character, DCP Ajooni Kohli. Sources suggest IPS officer Manzil Saini, who has held significant positions like SSP Lucknow, might be an inspiration. The film's portrayal of Ajooni as a determined officer emphasizes investigation and due process.
'Daayra' features Kapoor Khan and Sukumaran as DCPs on opposing sides of a case. The film delves into the tension between adhering to legal procedures and the public's desire for swift justice, continuing to spark online debate.
