A bold new adaptation of Edmond Rostand's "Cyrano" is set to captivate West End audiences. The production, which previously garnered acclaim at the RSC's Stratford-upon-Avon home, will transfer to the Noël Coward Theatre. Performances are scheduled from June 13 through September 5.
Helmed by director Simon Evans, the fresh adaptation was co-written with Debris Stevenson. It delves into the "courage it takes to say what you mean, plainly and bravely." Adrian Lester, praised for his "gentleness, playfulness, and ferocity," will reprise his role as Cyrano, starring opposite Susannah Fielding as Roxane.
This collaborative production is brought to the stage by Wessex Grove, Gavin Kalin Productions, and the RSC. Lester expressed his excitement to return to the role and bring the "playful and poignant production" to a wider audience. The creative team includes notable designers for sets, costumes, lighting, and sound, ensuring a visually and aurally rich experience.
