Cynthia Erivo, a celebrated Academy Award nominee, is set to receive the inaugural Icon Award at the University of Oxford. The event, scheduled for May 5, will feature a comprehensive conversation about Erivo's career, guided by Dr. Stacy L. Smith.
During the event, Erivo will also launch an eponymous scholarship for the USC School of Dramatic Arts and the Cynthia Erivo Film Bursary for Oxford. These initiatives are designed to support students pursuing studies in drama, theater, film, and related entertainment disciplines.
The conversation, titled "In Conversation with Cynthia Erivo," will take place in Oxford's new Sohmen Concert Hall. This event is part of the Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities' cultural programming, intended to convene artists, academics, and the public for enriching discussions.
Tickets for the event go on sale to members on April 6 and to the general public on April 13. The scholarships are supported by Jason and Yvonne Lee, the USC School of Dramatic Arts, and the USC Annenberg Inclusion Initiative, with awardees selected by the fall-autumn 2026 terms.
