The critically acclaimed romantic documentary, 'The Cycle of Love,' directed by Oscar winner Orlando von Einsiedel, is set for a special one-day theatrical return on November 1. This unique screening event precedes its availability on TVOD platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and YouTube starting November 2. The film details the remarkable love story of PK, an Indian artist from an 'untouchable' background, and Lotta, a Swedish adventurer. Their meeting, prophesied by an astrologer, blossomed into love despite societal barriers of caste and nationality.
PK's extraordinary 6000-mile journey across multiple countries in 1977 to find Lotta is a central theme. Lacking archival footage, von Einsiedel employed a unique filmmaking approach, blending documentary elements with dramatizations featuring non-professional actors met during filming. This creative method was inspired by filmmakers like Abbas Kiarostami and Chloé Zhao. The film, which has garnered awards at festivals including the Hamptons International Film Festival, explores themes of destiny, perseverance, and choosing one's own narrative.
The film has earned significant recognition, including two nominations at the Critics Choice Documentary Awards for Best Director and Best Cinematography. Previously, it won the Artemis Rising Foundation Award for Social Impact at the Hamptons International Film Festival and audience awards at the Middleburg Film Festival and Indie Meme Film Festival. Priyanka Chopra Jonas served as an executive producer on the project.
