22 Oct, 2025
Summary
- The Cult to take an undetermined break from touring
- Band plans to focus on writing, recording new music, and other projects
- Culminating 5 remaining shows on current North American tour

In a statement released on October 22nd, 2025, the British rock band The Cult has announced they will be taking a hiatus from touring following the conclusion of their current North American tour. The band, founded in 1983 under the name Death Cult, has decided to step away from the road to focus on writing, recording new music, and exploring other creative projects.
Frontman Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy expressed that the decision to take a break was inspired by the natural cycles of change and evolution. "Mother Nature has a cycle of change and evolution that is inevitable," their statement read. "The moon's phases change, tides rise and fall. Change is necessary for creation and rebirth."
The Cult has five more shows left on their current tour, culminating at The Shrine in Los Angeles on October 30th. The band has invited their fans to join them in celebrating their 40-year legacy during these final performances before their hiatus. "When we return to the stage, it shall be with an even stronger fire and energy that we will share with all of you," the statement promised.
Astbury and Duffy both expressed their gratitude to the band's loyal fanbase, known as the "Cult family," for their support over the years. Duffy noted that it has been a "beautiful three years celebrating our music" and that it is now time to focus on their own families and new creative endeavors. Astbury echoed these sentiments, stating he is "deeply grateful to be connected to our Cult family" as they embark on this next chapter.
